The Authors
Mike Pigg
Mike Pigg is one of triathlon's most notable personalities, a gifted yet hard-working athlete and a proven champion. From 1987 to 1995 he won an astonishing 77 of 132 races, with an incredible 30 wins in the U.S. Triathlon Series. This might very well be the greatest career in the

history of the sport. The only titles that eluded him are the major ultra-distance championships -- Ironman, Nice, and PowerMan although he has finished second in each of these races.

Mike began swimming at the age of 10 and from there moved on to cross country running in High School. He didn't start biking until college, and that was merely for transportation on the 34 mile round-trip to school. Arcata, California, Mike's hometown, is known for rain, hills, and headwinds, all of which have contributed to making Mike the strong athlete and fierce competitor he is. He lives near Arcata with his wife Marci and their two children.
