Support PC Coach Elite Support V47 beta Notice

PC Coach Elite Support

Special notice for PC Coach customers who downloaded early versions of 4.7

There is a possibility that data entered by hand may have been lost during the update to PC Coach version 4.7.0 beta, 4.7.1 beta, 4.7.2 or 4.7.3. In the case of 4.7.2 and 4.7.3, which were available as final (non-beta) releases from Nov 3 to Nov 13, the data would only be lost if you downloaded a Polar workout, attached it to a training plan workout, and then added some data by hand. An example would be if your monitor did not record distance, and after downloading you filled in the distance value by hand. The versions listed above may have overwritten the hand-entered values in past workouts.

If you installed any of these versions from our support page in the last few weeks, and you think the above cases might apply to you, be sure to check whether any of your old workout data is missing, particularly data that you entered manually rather than downloaded from an HRM or after downloading.

The missing data is easily restored. Just follow the steps below to restore your data and install a new version (4.7.4) that fixes this bug.

1. If you have logged any new data since updating to vers. 4.7.X, create an RCS file for that time period. This is the icon with a person's head and an envelope. You may need to change the default time frame to encompass the entire time since you upgraded. If you are not certain when you upgraded, go to: c:\program files\pc coach\backups and you will see a folder with a recent date for the title. This is the date you did the backup. You do not actually want to SEND this RCS email so uncheck the box to send now. You'll get a message that the file is now stored in c:\outbox. (After we restore your backed up user folder, we'll bring this data back in.)

2. Go to c:\program files\pc coach\backups\folder with date of backup\YOUR USER FOLDER. Your user folder will have the same name as your login name, but it will be abbreviated to six characters and appended with 01. Make a copy of your user folder and place it on your desktop for now. (Right click on the folder and select copy. Then right click on your desktop and select paste.)

3. Go to c:\program files\pc coach\YOUR USER FOLDER (This is the file that has been converted and is having problems). Change the name of this folder to OLD"name" and move it onto your desktop. Once these steps are successfully completed and you have restored the missing data, you can delete this from your desktop.

4. Click here to download Version 4.7.4 and install it.

5. Move your backed up user folder from the desktop into c:\program files\pc coach. Check to make sure old data is there, including data that had shown up as zeros.

6. If all of that looks good, then go to c:\Outbox. There will only be one file in this folder, Copy or Cut and then paste it into c:\program files\pc coach\YOUR USER FOLDER\Inbox. Now when you open the program, you should get a message that there's something in your inbox; import now. This should import the workouts that you had entered since the backup was created. If you had updated a training plan AFTER installing version 4.7.X, you will need to repeat that update. It would have been done after the backup of your user folder was created so not included in it.
