4. Troubleshooting SonicLink Data Transfer...

If you are having trouble transferring SonicLink data from your Polar monitor, please make sure you are using the very latest version of PC Coach. Most problems with SonicLink data transfer are solved by installing the latest version of PC Coach.

If you are sure you are using the latest version of PC Coach, click one of the links below to begin solving your issue:

No input is indicated or the input level is too low

I always get an "Incorrect Data Received" error

I get a General Protection Fault when I click the Start Recording Button

I get a General Protection Fault when the watch begins to transmit its sound

PC Coach is using the "Alternate Method" of transferring

I get a fatal blue-screen error

If you have tried everything else, and you are still unsuccessful downloading, you may need to get a new sound card driver for your PC. This is usually required when you have recently upgraded your Windows Operating System. If you need information on how to upgrade your sound card driver, contact us at support @ pccoach.com

5. Uplinking data from PC Coach to the Polar S410 or S510
If your monitor consistently reads "FAILED" when you attempt to uplink data or if it never achieves 100% uplink:
1. Confirm that your speakers are properly connected to your PC.
2. Confirm that your speakers are turned on and are not muted in Microsoft Windows Playback control (accessed by clicking the small speaker icon on your Windows taskbar).
3. Try increasing the volume to get a stronger uplink signal.
4. Please note that some larger speakers have a particular area where the sound is more concentrated, try to hold the monitor close to that area during uplink.

If you attempt steps 1-4 but still are not able to uplink successfully, you may be experiencing a conflict with magnetic fields in the PC environment. To remedy, try the following:

1. DO NOT wear your chest strap transmitter while uplinking.
2. Position the speakers as far as possible from other computer components (other speakers, the computer monitor, the CPU etc.).

6. I'm installing PC Coach and it tells me that my SERIAL NUMBER IS INVALID.

When you enter your serial number, make sure that the fifth character of the serial number is a letter.

If the fifth character in the serial number is the letter "I" a common mistake is made when users enter it as the number "1".

7. Backing up PC Coach

The only essential folder(s) needing scheduled backups is your User folder(s), which contains your calendar and SonicLink.

To back up your calendar/user data:

1. Open Windows Explorer / My Computer.
2. Locate the PC Coach directory on the appropriate hard drive (For example, C:\pccoach2 or C:\pccoach3).
3. Open the PC Coach file and locate your user folder. Your user folder will be named by the first 5 characters of your log-in name followed by _01. For example, Chris Athlete's user folder is titled Chris_01.
4. Drag and drop this file onto your backup device. If possible, use a Zip drive to backup your data; Note: if you back your data up onto a CDR or CD-Rom your files will be converted to read-only files and you will then have to manually remove the read-only attribute from each file.
