General Technical Assistance for PC Coach Elite

System Requirements - PC Coach is compatible with Win 98, Win 2000 or Win XP and requires you have 16 MB RAM and 35 MB hard disk space available.

Installing PC Coach - Insert cd-rom into drive. If the install wizard does not launch automatically, go to Start - Run. In the command line type the letter of your CD drive followed by :\setup.exe.

Downloading PC Coach from the Online Store - If you have trouble downloading the software, set your system's internet security setting to low or minimum and try again.

If you are using Internet Explorer, go to IE / Tools / Internet Options / Advanced. UNCHECK the line "Enable folder view for ftp sites" and CHECK the line "Use passive ftp". Try the download again.

Backups - Your essential data is stored in your user folder. To back up your data, go to My Computer, c:\Program Files\PC Coach (or the location where PC Coach is installed on your computer). Your user folder will be titled with the first 6 letters of your login name, followed by 01 if it is more than six characters. Copy this file onto your backup device.

Moving to a New Computer - Follow the backup instructions above. Install PC Coach on the new computer. Copy your user folder into the main PC Coach folder (c:\Program Files\PC Coach). If you do not see your data when you log in, check the files in your user folder to see if they have been converted to "Read Only". To do this, right click on some of the files, select properties and look for the Read Only box. If it's checked, uncheck it. You'll need to uncheck this attribute in all files/folders within your user folder. If you have Win XP, start at your main user folder and you will be asked if you want to apply to all subfolders/files. Select yes.

Serial Numbers - When first installing the software, the serial number can be found inside the front cover of the CD-Rom jewel case. To find it after installation, open the program and choose Help/About PC Coach from your top toolbar. Here you will also find your version number.

Manuals - PC Coach manuals are built into the software. This includes the PC Coach User's Guide and, if you have purchased a coaching plug-in, your Training Plan Guidebook. To learn how to navigate around PC Coach and how to use the features in PC Coach choose Help/PC Coach User's Guide from your top tool bar. The first chapter is an overview for getting started. Under the 'Contents' tab you can read through the topics as they are sorted or under the Index tab you can look topics up alphabetically.
