The Plan
This plan takes the guesswork out of heart rate training and creates workout schedules for distances of 800 meters to 10K. With Coach Roy Benson's Heart Rate Plan and a heart rate monitor, you will receive the perfect workout schedule to take your running to the next level. The plan has several different programs built in, with different schedules and workouts especially for:

Beginning Fitness Runners

Adult Recreational Runners (5k, 10k)
Adult Competitive Road Runners (5k, 10k)
Adult Competitive Track Runners (distances of 800m to 10,000m)

High School Cross country runners
High School Track runners (distances of 800 meters up to 5k)

College cross-country runners
College Track runners (distances of 800 meters up to 10,000m)


Customized Training
For each category, it will create the perfect plan for you, based on your:
  • Running experience
  • Racing Goals
  • Maximum heart rate and Resting Heart Rate
  • Previous Race Times

Each week, the program loads your calendar with the perfect mix of
workouts - from easy runs to interval workouts - with heart rates and
intensities calculated based on the runner's phase of training and workout performance.

For each workout, you will be given the specific distance, duration, heart
rate (or effort) and pace. The program leads you through four different
phases of training, including base training, endurance, racing, and peaking.

It lets you train for one important race, or an entire season of peak
performances.

Whether you want to enter the local 10k, or win it, this program will create the perfect schedule for you.

If you are a high school cross country athlete or coach, and want a detailed, season-long training plan, Coach Benson's Running plan has special logic for you.
