The Parts of PC Coach:

You access the various features of PC Coach by clicking on the icons located near the top of your screen.

(Some of these icons may not appear on your screen until you activate the corresponding feature. For example, the Polar HRM setup/download icon will only appear after you have gone to the data transfer center and added a Polar HRM to your list of devices.)

Users — click on this icon to add a new user, or to log in as a different user. You can have up to ten different users in PC Coach Elite.
Calendar — click on this icon to see your training calendar. The arrow to the right of the calendar icon allows you to select the weekly, monthly or planner view of your calendar. You can also set "Calendar Options" such as 1st day of the training week (Sunday or Monday), and which calendar view is opened by default.

Data Transfer Center — The Data Transfer Center lets you define new data sources (a Polar 720i HRM, or Timex Data Recorder for example. When you add a data source, you will be asked if you want to add an icon for that device on your top icon bar. This is how you add icons such as the HRM and Timex data recorder icon to the top bar.)

Once defined, you are able to download data from the device. In the case of Polar HRMs, you can also upload watch settings such as zones and timers, and user data such as bike setup parameters before your workout.

Polar HRM Quick Connect — The Quick Connect button lets you import workout data from your Polar HRM, export workout definitions to set up the Polar HRM, and (in the case of the 720i and 610) report on the memory status of the monitor.
Quick Import of Polar HRM Files — If you defined "Polar HRM files" as one of your data sources (in the data transfer center), then this icon will appear on your icon bar. Click on this icon to import Polar HRM files that were created by downloading a workout using the Polar PPP software. Typically, a user would only use this option when they have been using the PPP software, and have some .hrm files in a folder. When you first start using PC Coach, you can bring these old .hrm files into PC Coach.
Quick Connect to the Timex Data Recorder — The Quick Connect button lets you import workout data from your Timex Data Recorder, and delete workouts from the data recorder memory, if desired.
Start/Update a Training Plan — This icon allows you to start your training plan and have it place workouts on your calendar. If you have not yet started a training plan, click on this icon, and you will be led through a series of questions about your training. Following the interview, one or more weeks of workouts will be placed on your training calendar. When you have completed those workouts and wish to schedule more, click on this icon again, and an update interview will adjust your plan and schedule more workouts for you.
Help-Training Plan Books
View Training Plan Guide Book — This is a booklet that describes the training plan philosophy in detail, and gives information on the workouts you will be performing. Click here to read about the plan before starting it, or when you need more information about how to perform a workout.
Remote Coaching Service (RCS) — Click on this icon to send workouts to your coach or training partner. You will be prompted for a date range of workouts to send. The workouts will be bundled into an .rcs file, attached to an email, and sent to your coach. (The user on the far end must have PC Coach running on their computer, in order to read your .rcs file). When your coach sends you an email with an .rcs file attached, click on the attachment, and the workouts will be brought into your PC Coach calendar.
Long Term Reports and Graphs — click on this icon to bring up the reporting screen. There, you can choose the reports you wish to see. These graphs are let you view trends in your logged data (distance, time, time in HR zones, etc ) that you have logged in your workouts. Note: You will only see data for workouts you have completed, so if you wish to use the reports feature, remember to fill in your actual workout data and mark each workout as complete. If you download data from a heart rate monitor or speed and distance monitor into a workout, this data will automatically be filled in for you.
