What's New in Version 4.4.2

As we roll into spring training, PC Coach has some exciting news.
PC Coach Elite version 4.4.2 has just been released. It adds two new features - and fixes some uploading bugs.

Uploading Pace Settings to Polar S625X

If you have the new Polar S625X Heart Rate Monitor / Speed & Distance Monitor, we've added the ability to upload pace settings to the S625X from the software. Now, you can set pace parameters in your watch, just like you've always been able to set your heart rate parameters.

There are two ways to do this.
One way is to upload a target pace with a tolerance (e.g., 7:00 min/mile with a tolerance of 15 seconds would upload thresholds of 6:45 - 7:15 min/mile.).
The other way is to upload a high and low threshold (e.g., 6:45 - 7:15 min/mile). Either way, if you have your sound turned on, your watch will beep at you when you are outside of the set pace limits.

set pace limits

Now you can use PC Coach software to set your S625X pace limits for your workout.

If you are not already familiar with the S625X - it's the first watch from Polar to give you speed and distace whiile running (it also gives you speed and distance on the bike). Visit the Polar S625X page for more details. If you already have a 625X, read our 5-minute guide to getting started with the monitor. It has useful tips on getting the most from your S625X.

End of Workout recovery data is now available

The second new feature will benefit all PC Coach customers who are using one of the Polar infrared-downloading heart rate monitors. (S625X, S725, S720i, S610i).Version 4.4.2 now captures and displays your end-of-workout recovery data in the summary section of the Imported Data Graph (the downloaded graph of your workout).

recovery data

There are two ways to track your recovery. You can set up the monitor to capture how much time is takes for your HR to recover down to a certain number of beats per minute, or you can set the monitor to record how much your HR drops in a set time. In the example graph above, see the Recovery data in the summary section. This workout captured how much the heart rate dropped in one minute after stopping the exercise. If you use the Exercise definition manager to define an exercise set, you can choose to have recovery at the end of your workout or not, and which kind of recovery you will use.

This recovery data was already being captured in previous releases for owners of the Polar SonicLink downloading models. Now, IR HRM users can use this feature as well.

Assume you set up your exercise set to have recovery. At the end of your workout, to activate the recovery, press the STOP button once at the end of your workout. Press and hold the red button to start the recovery. The watch will beep when the timer has counted down to zero or when your HR has reached your target recovery rate.

The recovery data will be shown in the "summary" section of your downloaded heart rate graph.

Newest IR communication software

This new release also includes the newest IR communication software from Polar - which fixed some data downloading problems on the Polar S625X and S725.
