New Training Books for Women
The PC Coach library has a number of excellent training books for athletes, but our two newest additions are specifically for women - The Woman Triathlete, edited by Christina Gandolfo, and Strength Training for Women, by Lori Incledon.

The Woman Triathlete - $19.95

The Woman Triathlete is a compilation of articles by leading women athletes and coaches covering a wide range of topics from training schedules and techniques to nutrition and pregnancy.

The expert advice you'll receive from this book is detailed and customized for women. For each subject, a different woman athlete or coach has been consulted.

Barb Lindquist covers proper swim technique. Bettina Younge shows you how to maximize your efficiency on the bike. Heather Fuhr provides insights for beating the competition on the run.

Gale Bernhardt, Siri Lindley, and Lori Bowden discuss the challenges and strategies for sprint, Olympic and long distance races. Training schedules for the different distances are included as well. The book also covers topics like nutrition, strength training, and stretching.

Not only will you receive comprehensive and detailed guidance on your training, technique, equipment, and more, but you'll also find that reading Gandolfo's collection will motivate you to get started, train harder and smarter, and "become the best and fastest triathlete you can be." For more information and the table of contents, see The Woman Triathlete.

Strength Training for Women - $18.95

Our second new addition to our book selection, Strength Training for Women, is a 'must have' for women who already strength train, as well as those haven't started yet but are ready to be converted. Lori Incledon has put together a valuable resource that not only explains how to strength train, but also why.

Strength training does more than just make you stronger. It also increases bone density, improves your immune system, decreases the effects of aging, reduces fat and increases your metabolism.

It also elevates your mood and increases your confidence and quality of life. This book explains the science behind each of these benefits!

You'll learn about three different types of strength training - functional, metabolic training, and weight training - and which one is right for you. You'll find answers to the questions women have been asking about strength training for years. Incledon's book includes specific routines for beginning, intermediate, and advanced trainers as well as a bone-building program.

She provides simple descriptions, and detailed illustrations of over 100 exercises. Written specifically for women and optimized for the way the female body responds to training, this book will help you get started with proper technique today. If you're already strength training, it will help take you to the next level. Find out why strength training is the most beneficial type of exercise you can do. Another training book specifically for women is Triathlons for Women, by Sally Edwards. Sally, who has won several Ironman races, has written dozens of books on triathlons and training. She is currently the CEO of Heart Zones Training and spokeswoman for the Danskin triathlon series.
